The Unite the Right rally in Charlottesville, VA turned deadly on August 12th when James Alex Fields, Jr, rammed his Dodge Charger into a crowd of pedestrians, killing Heather Heyer and wounding at least 35 others. Could this tragedy have been predicted – and possibly even prevented – if the social media content surrounding the rally had been properly analyzed for extremism and malicious intent?
